4 Healthy Foods That Fight Gas
It's a 22 nutritional catch: many healthy foods are full of fiber (good), but that fiber can make you feel puffy and bloated (not so good). Fortunately, you do not have to make a straight line for Beano every time you eat on greens. We spoke with Keri Gans, R.D., author of The Small Change Diet, about the best foods that are great for a snack or for your next meal if you feel gaseous. Munch on these, and your gurgly stomach will thank you.
"It has a lot of protein, which does not require a lot of work for your system to digest it," says Gans. "Also, it does not have a lot of fiber, so it will not feel gaseous, just comfortable." Just make sure you skip the extras. "As long as you do not cover it with an elegant sauce or fry it, which could make your stomach more upset than it already is, you're fine."
"Oh man, I just had two scrambled eggs, and I'm so bloated," said no one, ever. That's because the eggs are very soft in your stomach. "They are easy and can help calm a gaseous stomach because they have proteins," says Gans. One thing: if you are ordering them in a greasy spoon restaurant instead of preparing them at home, it is best to get poached eggs or boiled eggs instead. "That way, you know there's no added fat of butter or extra oil," says Gans. "Too much fat can be hard on your stomach." Similarly, watch the vegetables, hot sauce and cheese. "Normally, I do not." I recommend not eating vegetables, but if your stomach is upset, it's better to continue with the basics. "
In this case, it is not so much what you are eating as what you are not eating: fat. "Baked potatoes are barely fat, so they are super easy to digest," says Gans. "They are very gentle because they do not require a lot of work for your body to decompose." Top with a little mustard or mild sauce or hummus, and your stomach will feel much more settled.

However, do not look for varieties with many spices, such as rosemary, simply opt for the simple type. And again, look at what you're putting them in (skip the spicy seasonings for sure).
